Introducing up and coming artist TOPFIVEE, from Sunset Park, Brooklyn. No question about his confidence in his talent…his name says it all.
TOPFIVEE’s love affair with music started as a child. “Music has been flowing through my veins since I was a little boy. Growing up I loved music more than anything else. I would learn entire songs after the first couple of times listening to them!”
He was inspired by his uncles to segue his love for music into a career. “I made my first track around the age of 5 or 6. My uncle Joker put my cousin and I on the chorus of one of his songs. After I heard the track I was fascinated with how I sounded, so I kept on writing lyrics and randomly working on music with both of my uncles, Joker and Panama. They are each from a different side of my family, so I got it from both sides. (laughing). If it wasn’t for them I don’t think I would have discovered that I had it in me to make music and rap the way I do.”
TOPFIVEE describe’s his style as a creative, spontaneous and carefree adrenaline rush. He prides himself on his individuality. “My style is different from others because it is my own. I don’t sound like anyone else and I can adapt to any beat or rhythm you throw at me. I am my own person with my own style 100 percent. Everything I do stands out and I say that in the humblest way.”
His musical influences include, of course his uncles Joker and Panama, as well as The Notorious B.I.G., 2 PAC, Snoop Dogg, Big L, Eminem, 50 Cent, Big Pun, Immortal Technique and Busta Rhymes. He also draws strength and confidence from the non-believers. “The people who tell me, “Man, you need to find a real career!”, and try to knock me and my music only make me work harder. I will never doubt myself or my ability to succeed in this rap game. I remember being a kid and standing in front of my mirror with my headphones on blasting the latest hot song. I remember the amazing feeling that the music gave me! I would love for kids to be rockin’ to my music the same way.”
He is currently working on a few features and collaborations with other artists that will drop next month and he is picking tracks for his eagerly awaited debut mixtape. “As far as my debut mixtape goes, I have most of the tracks ready, but I am my worst critic. So I am taking my time and making sure it is exactly how I want it. I definitely plan on dropping major projects in the future, but for now look out for the mixtape in late 2019.”
TOPFIVEE’s goal as an artist is to touch the youth with his music so they experience that rush that only good music can give you. “I still, to this day, experience that feeling when I listen to music! That feeling that just overpowers everything in your mind and makes you believe in yourself and your dreams hands down, no matter what anyone tells you. I want the youth and the older generations to understand that when it comes to music its not just a fantasy world like a video game, music is a career just like being a doctor, a lawyer or even an athlete. You work just as hard to become successful in this business. With hunger and dedication you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.”
