Sadly, Hip-Hop artist and community activist, NIPSEY HU$$LE, was fatally shot and killed in Los Angeles, C.A.

On a quiet Sunday afternoon, March 31st, 2019, just a few feet from his store, The Marathon, in Crenshaw, multiple shots rang out striking NIPSEY and two other men.  He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

NIPSEY was nominated for a Grammy for his long-awaited debut album, “VICTORY LAP“, after releasing several mixtapes over the years of his music career.  Although, he did not win the Grammy, the public unanimously dubbed it album of the year.  He had finally broken through the underground ceiling and was ready to conquer the world.

NIPSEY HU$$LE had gone from being known as a gang-banging member of the notorious Rolling Sixty Crips to a positive staple and beacon of hope in his community.

This year alone, he started a STEM program and opened a space in the hood for the youth named, “Too Big To Fail“.  He also created Vector 90 (which creates a link between talented youth in South Central to opportunities in Silicon Valley) and helped fund upgrades to the campus of various schools.  He even purchased the entire strip mall where his store, The Marathon, is housed, adding hundreds of jobs to the community.

Nipsey helped renovate World of Wheels skating rink and invested in Destination Crenshaw, an open-air museum in Crenshaw.  He rebuilt playgrounds and basketball courts, provided jobs and shelter for the homeless and dontated new sneakers to students.

These are just a few of the many contributions he made to help build up his community and serve his people.  And he was just getting started.  His death is a crushing blow to all the people in South Central L.A. who his bright light shined on.

NIPSEY left behind his mother and father, his older brother Samiel and two children, daughter Emani, son Kross and his long-time girlfriend, actress Lauren London.

We send love, light and prayers to his family and loved ones.  Sleep in Peace King.
