On Sunday, December 8th, 2019, we said goodbye to JUICE WRLD, multi-talented rapper, singer and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. He died after suffering a seizure in Chicago’s Midway airport. His career was on the rise after he climbed to #2 on the BILLBOARD charts in 2018 with his hit “Lucid Dreams” and he was BILLBOARD’s TOP NEW ARTIST of 2019!
He released his first track, “Forever“, on SoundCloud in 2015 under the name JuicetheKidd, a name inspired by his affection for rapper Tupac Shakur’s role in the movie, “JUICE“. He then changed his name to JUICE WRLD because he said it, “represents taking over the world”. His popularity on SoundCloud led to a recording contract with LiL Bibby’s ‘Grade A Productions’ and Interscope Records.
JUICE WRLD drew musical influence from Rock and Hip-Hop, citing his favorite artists as Travis Scott, Chief Keef, Kanye West and British rocker Billy Idol. He was a part of the openly vulnerable artists born from the Emo Rap scene inspired by Kanye West’s album, “808 and Heartbreak“.
Ironically, one month after he released his first studio album, “Goodbye & Good Riddance“, JUICE released the 2-track EP, “Too Soon,” a tribute to late rappers Lil Peep and XXX Tentacion. Now he joins that list of rappers who passed away at a young age. JUICE WRLD just turned 21 years old last Monday, December 2nd, 2019.
